In an effort to provide quality service to the community, Progressive seeks to only hire staff with a high level of expertise in working with at-risk population. Progressive’s professional vision and goals include building a multidisciplinary team that will provide complimentary experiences, qualifications, and skills that contribute to the achievement of Progressive’s mission and overall service goals.
Parenting Coach positions include the following minimum qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field from an accredited university and one year experience working with at risk adults or an Associates degree in a Human Services field from an accredited school and two years of experience working with adults. Additional skills required include effective communication skills, excellent documentation skills, and experience working with at risk adults.
Therapeutic Mentor positions include the following minimum qualifications:
One year experience working with at risk children/adolescents or an Associates degree in a Human Services field from an accredited school and one year of experience working with children/adolescents. Additional skills required include effective communication skills, excellent documentation skills, and experience working with at risk youth.
Volunteers:
Progressive Community Outreach always welcomes volunteers, especially for our Therapeutic Mentoring program. Specifically, we welcome young professionals that are able to provide valuable guidance and experience to our young males and females. Volunteer opportunities are also available during our annual Back to School Drive.
All employees and students are required to complete background screening following a notice of hire from Progressive. Employees and students should be aware that a fee is charged for background checks and other screening procedures, this fee is the employees’ and students’ responsibility. Background Checks and Fingerprinting normally total $72.00. Employees and Students with a criminal conviction or arrest record need to be aware that this may affect internship in Virginia.
