About
Progressive Community Outreach
“To the world, you are one person. But to your child, you are the world.”
Our Story
At Progressive Community Outreach, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow up safe, supported, and surrounded by people who believe in their potential. Founded on the principles of strength-based service and family-centered practice, PCO was built for one purpose: to be a steadfast partner to the children, parents, and families who need it most.
For years, our team of dedicated clinicians, mentors, and community advocates has worked across our region to provide high-quality therapeutic services to some of our community’s most vulnerable youth. We don’t simply respond to crises — we work proactively to prevent them, equipping families with the skills, resources, and relationships that serve as protective factors against the challenges our children face every day.
Our approach is rooted in the understanding that no family exists in isolation. Children thrive in homes. Homes thrive in communities. And communities are only as strong as the systems of support woven through them. That belief shapes every interaction, every service plan, and every partnership we form.
Progressive Community Outreach is proud to operate as a part of Virginia’s Children’s Services Practice Model — a collaborative, family-focused, and community-based framework that reflects our deepest values. Whether we are mentoring a teenager through academic challenges, coaching a parent through a moment of crisis, or facilitating a grief group for a family that has experienced loss, we bring the same commitment: to show up fully, serve with excellence, and leave every family stronger than we found them.
We do not measure our success in contracts or service hours alone. We measure it in milestones — a child who stays in school, a parent who finds their confidence, a family that chooses to stay together and grow together. Those are the outcomes that fuel our work.
Progressive Community Outreach: where community is not just a word — it is a promise.
Our Mission
To strengthen children, youth, and families through compassionate community-based coaching, mentoring, and support — building the skills, relationships, and resilience that lead to lasting positive change.
We show up in communities not as temporary interventions, but as committed partners. Our mission is to make a measurable, meaningful difference in the lives of the children and families we serve — and through them, in the fabric of our community as a whole.
Our Vision
A community where every child grows up in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment — and every family has the strength, skills, and support to thrive.
We envision a future where the risk factors that lead to family instability, child neglect, and youth crisis are addressed before they escalate — where parents are equipped and empowered, children are celebrated and challenged, and communities are woven together by relationships of trust and accountability. Progressive Community Outreach is committed to being a catalyst for that future, one family at a time.
We believe that when we invest in children early and consistently, we break cycles. We build legacies. We develop leaders for tomorrow.
Our Goals
The goals of Progressive Community Outreach reflect our commitment to measurable, meaningful impact in every life we touch:
-
Become an integrated part of a system of care that strengthens families through cross-sector collaboration with schools, courts, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
-
Prevent and reduce the risk factors that contribute to child abuse and neglect by empowering parents with practical, evidence-based parenting skills and expanded emotional capacity.
