Dynamic Youth Programs

“Some things a young person can only learn in the company of peers.”

Progressive Community Outreach youth groups give children and adolescents a structured, well-supervised place to practice the social skills that classrooms rarely teach directly — reading a room, managing conflict, speaking up, following through, and being someone others can count on.

Our groups are organized around the developmental and social needs of the young people in them, and led by staff who know how to make a group feel safe enough to be honest in. That safety is the whole point: it is what allows a young person to try something new in front of their peers.

Group is often where a young person first discovers that they are not the only one.

Our Youth Group Offerings

After-School Program

Structured, supervised programming during the hours when unsupervised time carries the most risk. Our after-school program combines homework support, skill-building activities, recreation, and consistent adult presence — bridging the gap between the end of the school day and the end of the workday with something better than an empty house.

Summer Program

A full-season program that keeps young people engaged, learning, and connected through the months when structure disappears. Enrichment, recreation, field experiences, and skill-building, designed with two well-documented summer risks squarely in view: academic loss and social isolation.

Gender Specific Groups

Separate groups for young men and young women, because certain conversations happen more honestly in a room of peers who share the same experience. These groups take on identity, self-respect, healthy relationships, emotional expression, and the specific pressures each group carries — with facilitators who can speak to those pressures credibly.

Leaders for Excellence

Our leadership development track for young people ready to step forward. Participants build public speaking, decision-making, goal-setting, service, and accountability skills — and are given real opportunities to lead rather than only to learn about leadership.

Leaders for Excellence is the sharpest expression of what our whole organization is for: developing leaders for tomorrow.
