Empowering Parents through Expert Coaching

We provide evidence-based parent coaching designed to help you build confidence, master effective communication, and create a supportive environment where your children can flourish. Our approach is grounded in deep personal investment and professional clinical knowledge.

What Is Parent Coaching?

Parent Coaching and Parent Education at Progressive Community Outreach rest on a straightforward conviction: when you strengthen a parent, you change a child's entire environment. Education and support for caregivers is not an add-on to youth services — it is one of the most effective preventive measures available, because it reaches the child through the person who is with them every day.

Our coaches work directly with parents, guardians, kinship caregivers, and foster families who want additional support in the work of raising a child well. Coaching happens in the home and in the community, on a schedule that fits a working family, and it is built around your household as it actually is — not around an ideal one.

What We Work On Together

  • Child and adolescent development — what to expect at each stage, and when to be concerned

  • Discipline that teaches rather than simply punishes

  • Communication that lowers the temperature in a room instead of raising it

  • Age-appropriate boundaries, and the follow-through that makes them real

  • Conflict resolution, and repair after a hard day

  • Routines around school, sleep, screens, chores, and responsibility

  • Family values, and the culture you want your home to have

  • Navigating schools, providers, and service systems on your child's behalf

How Coaching Works

Coaching begins with a conversation, not an assessment. We want to understand what is working in your home, what is not, and what you most want to be different. From there we set a short list of practical goals and work them together — modeling, practicing, adjusting, and reinforcing until the new approach is genuinely yours rather than something we handed you.

There is no judgment in this process. Every parent we work with is already doing something right, and that is where we start.

Who Parent Coaching Serves

  • Parents and guardians of children and adolescents

  • Kinship caregivers and foster parents

  • Young and first-time parents

  • Families involved with child welfare or the courts, including those working toward reunification

  • Any caregiver who simply wants more support than they currently have
